After logging in at https://events.video.taxi/, you can now create a room and start the transcription. To do this, click “New Room” on the home page:
In the window that opens, give the room a title and specify which translation languages viewers can choose from during the session (if you leave the field blank, they can choose from all languages). You can also specify a vocabulary here to improve speech recognition (more on that here). Below that, select whether the audio should be recorded and whether participants should see an automatic summary of what has been said so far upon joining. You can also display an info button with a link. Once you’ve filled everything out, click “Create Room.”
In the room you just created, you can click “Start transmission” at the top to start the transcription:
If this is your first time doing this, you'll need to give the browser permission to access your microphone. Here's what that looks like in the Chrome browser, for example:
Once you’ve granted permission, a window will open where you can select the microphone you want to use for audio. Below that, you’ll see a waveform showing whether the selected microphone is currently receiving an audio signal — this lets you test whether the microphone is working. Now select the language you’ll be speaking. At the very bottom, you can also enable automatic removal of filler sounds like “uh,” “um,” etc. — these will then be automatically removed from the transcript. Finally, click “Go on air.”
Now, at the top of the room, you’ll see “ON AIR” and “You’re transmitting”. In the waveform, you can see when your microphone is receiving audio signals. Under “Live Text,” you’ll see what’s currently being transcribed. If you want to stop the transcription, just click on "Stop" on the right-hand side. After that you can either resume again or stop the session entirely.
