You can test your livestream settings in advance: a maximum of three tests, each lasting 15 minutes. You can do this up to 35 minutes before the stream begins. However, we recommend that you test much earlier.
The livestream test is primarily used to check whether your encoder (software or hardware) can successfully send a signal to Video.Taxi. Parameters such as the ingest URL and stream key remain the same.
You don't need to change anything. If your encoding is successful, the stream you encoded will be displayed in the Video Cockpit. The player remains inactive for your viewers so that they cannot see your test process.
To perform a test, go to the “Test” tab in the livestream and click on “Perform 15-minute livestream test” on the right.
A new tab called “Cockpit” will now appear, where you will see various parameters.
If there is a problem with your input or output signal, a red exclamation mark will appear next to the tab:
This may be due to a missing input signal, for example, which will then be displayed as a warning message in the cockpit.
Once you have corrected the error (e.g., restored the input signal), the red exclamation mark will disappear and a green signal status will be displayed in the cockpit. This is a good sign that your livestream can run as planned.
